Chocolate bunnies and trash piles

My oh my what a week it's been and it's only Tuesday! Monday was not a heart warming day...bless those of you who received the full list of gripes and unlady-like words. For your amusement and boredom relief (thanks Nisha for only checking in when bored. warms my heart you care so much), I'm gonna give you a run down of the past 24 hours.

I left work feeling good about life and headed to the gym; it just so happened I had clothes in the car-a sign I should go. I've fallen a little off the wagon and my pants reminded me of that this weekend (dang scrubs...they just cover it up and play games with you). So I'm having my afternoon chat with Jackie when I realize I don't have a ponytail holder, ugh...thought about going home...found two clips and my determination to lose the chub. While in the gym I was thinking about my day and this week when I remembered the reason I wasn't planning on coming to the gym in the first place-I had a transcript. I finally got home and found a citation from the wonderful city of Mobile waiting on the kitchen counter for me. Let me just skip ahead and tell you the next 20 minutes were not pretty.

Oh Mobile, I already dislike you for so many reasons. I try to be positive and count your good qualities, but then...well then you throw more crap at me and I intensely dislike you all over again. You see someone in this town has enough free time that they ride around handing out citations involving the beautification of your yard. Did I get one telling me how awful the yard looked and that I should clean things up? Oh no, it was a complaint involving the work I actually did. This weekend my parents kindly helped me do a little work in the front and clean things up. We ended up with a nice little pile of trash which I placed in the "trash pick up area." That's a whole other story too...It just so happens that the yard trash is only picked up every other week and it's against a City ordinance for you to place this trash in public view more than 48 Hrs before the pick up. I'm supposed to plan MY yard work days around YOUR random thursday pick up days?! It's not like I have anything else going on right? I mean I should totally know that I can only place sticks beside the roadway in an already messy area on Wednesday nights. Gah, where was my head?

I digress. So my frustration level was quite high between the forgotten transcript and trash incident. I decided to focus in on the transcript- I told Liz about this small problem and she told me some interesting news: only 1 hour of pharm occurred-did I have the 2nd hour? Of course not; I'm not that lucky. So I downloaded the audio and found a poor soul willing to give me their notes, only to hear a thick foreign accent *sigh.* I'm not the worlds fastest typer in the first place; now I also had to translate. It was a long night.

Now let's skip ahead to today. Things at work went smoothly this morning; got to chat with a coworker and do a little bonding-always good. This afternoon I worked with Dr. McGinley- the man who got me the job in the first place. Guys he's borderline saint. The man never gets mad and has such patience (If only he could share that with me). I found myself running around like a loose balloon though and by 5pm I was so ready to leave. Was there going to be a nice relaxing night ahead of me? Oh no, still gotta finish that transcript AND I had another one from today to work on. I'm not gonna lie- thinking about all the crap I keep forgetting to do (Uncle Sam about that loan repayment...swear I'm gonna figure that out soon...),the dreaded transcription I had to complete, and knowing that I have to be at work by 7:30 the rest of the week (read very little sleep)almost brought me to tears. I'm sore from trying to be unchub and the combination was pushing me to accept defeat.

Why does it seem like when things take a turn downward they seem to dive in that direction? I was catching up on a few blogs while waiting on d/ls and I started to feel guilty. Here I am reading about all these wonderful Easter blessings and thankfulness for little blessings and it hit me hard- what do I really have to complain about? Why am I not thankful for the small things and only seem to focus on the "big" issues (which really aren't that big in the first place). My mindset has been flipped to negative nelly this week. I started to lecture myself as I hit play on the audio from today's class. [For those of you who don't know how this works, to transcribe I download the audio from the morning of that lecture. The audio isn't broken down by class so you have to fast forward and find the appropriate starting place.] Once I found my starting place I looked to see how much time I would have to transcribe; the ppt only had 24 slides but they were mainly images which means no copying and pasting text. I only had 26 minutes to transcribe-not even a full half hour.

It was my little break. Just what I needed to remind myself that I've got to keep looking for the good. I may be close to broke and have some serious bills coming up, but I'm not hungry and counting pennies [yet haha]. My stomach might be misleading people to think I'm 3 months preggers, but I have good health and means by which I can change that. A friend I haven't talked to in a while texted me tonight and asked "how's life?" As I took a bite of my butterfinger easter bunny's head (I know-don't talk about the contradiction gym vs choc. It was a gift from my daddy and we all know I can't let a thing like that go to waste), all I could think was life is life. It always keeps going. Chin up and push on through.*Cue Lion King's the circle of life background music*

Hope you've all had an uneventful week so far. Now back to that transcript...

Soup Anyone?

Wow oh wow...what a week it has been. I either caught a vicious bug or poisoned myself;not sure which of those to blame but I'm ready for it to all be over. I can't remember the last time I felt so awful. I attempted a "real" meal consisting of campbells chicken and rice and lets just say that didn't go so well...I'll save you the details haha. I mean I've been thinking I should really get back to the gym and stop eating all the sugar at work...guess we'll call this a jump start diet ;)

On a happier note, it's almost April and therefore my bday! One of my fav shows comes back on tonight for a new season and ON my birthday another one starts back. Hooray for April!

Fun One

Also, if you read this in Reader then you miss out on the funny quote thingy on the side. This one is totally worth sharing. Made me laugh anyway :)

Women need a reason to have sex. Men just need a place. -Billy Crystal

Winds and Diamonds

So last year at some point I wrote this:

While I love this quote - "When you long for a life without difficulty, it helps to remember that oak trees grow strong in contrary winds and that diamonds are made under pressure.” ~ Peter Marshall- could the wind just stop blowing for like a week please?! I don’t want a diamond anyway…

Reading it now-I still agree haha. Does it seem like time is passing super fast to anyone else or is that just me? And somehow I stay busy because there's always something else that needs to be done. Last week I suddenly found myself in the absolute worst mood; I'm talking about the -you don't wanna talk to me-kinda mood. I had a bad day at work, I had a thousand things to do, and I realized I hadn't been to the gym in ages so that whole 'pre-wedding diet' wasn't really working out. As I was sulking in my room I started to replay the day in my head and remembered a convo I had with a co-worker recently. In our talk she had told me a little bit about her life growing up. Talk about a slap of reality. I forget a lot of days that my "difficulties" are a far cry from the true hardships people face everyday. I work with a couple of women who are kinda inspirational; they have much bigger battles to fight everyday than I can even imagine and they still have a good attitude.

I'll always like this quote but it has a little bit different meaning to me now. Everyone has a wind pushing them and it's important to remember that and recognize the sparkle of the people around us. On those days it's time to take a deep breath and be thankful my breeze isn't a hurricane.

Back to the Basics

Hello friends! I've been quite boring haven't I? Let me start by saying if you're reading this-thank you for putting up with me and keeping up with me :) I know you all love my little text rants about everything under the sun. I'm currently waiting on the audio from today's lecture to download so I can type a transcript. Yea! Not. Gotta support those Target trips somehow...seriously people, tell me to stop going there! They are getting way too much of my money lately. Anyway, I was reading some of the blogs I regularly follow when it hit me that I could be adding to my own. Life has been pretty boring as of late so I'll spare you the details. I do promise to at least give you something funny to laugh at within the near future ;)

Thought for the week: Deep breathing exercises help you remain sane and employed. Trust me on that last part...

Love you guys!
